The tables display the sales figure of coffee and bananas resulting from Fairtrade in five countries of Europe in 1999 and 2004.

Overall, it is apparent that coffee sales increased in all the countries, whereas sale of bananas only climbed up in Switzerland, UK and Belgium.

The UK witnessed a substantial growth in coffee sales from 1.5millions of euros in 1999 to 20 millions of euros in 2004. Likewise, the coffee sales in Switzerland doubled in 2004 to reach 6 million of euros. Similarly, the sales of coffee in Denmark, Belgium and Sweden increased slightly from 1.8 to 2, 1 to 1.7 and 0.8 to 1 million of euros respectively.

On the other hand, in 1999 sales of bananas were just 15 millions of euros which rose considerably to 47 million of euros in 2004. In Belgium and UK, banana sales jumped nearly by five times from 0.6 and 1 millions of euros to 4 millions of euros and 5.5 millions of euros respectively in 2004. On the contrary, Sweden and Denmark witnessed a marginal decline in sales of bananas from 1.8 and 2 millions of euros to 1 and 0.9 millions of euros respectively.
