Overall, it is apparent that consumption of beef, lamb and fish decreased with time, whereas the chicken consumption increased significantly in the given years.
Consumption of fish had a gradual but marginal decline, starting from 52 grams in 1979 to about 49 grams in 2004. However, amount of lamb consumed over the period dropped dramatically. In 1979, 150 grams of lamb were consumed per person weekly which declined to 75 grams in 1994. In the following years, it saw slight fluctuations before decreasing to 60 grams per week.
Despite being the most consumed food in 1979, beef consumption declined rapidly. In 1979, Beef was consumed at around 220 grams per week. After a sharp dip, it raised to 240 grams per week in 1984 but later saw a significant fall to just over 100 grams per week in 2004. On the contrary, weekly consumption of chicken climbed steadily from nearly 150 grams to 200 grams in 1989. In 1994, it saw a little drop but later rose to 250 grams per week in 2004, making it the most consumed meat.
