The information depicted in the pictures gives insights into the series of developments that took place at a public library in the period of past 20 years.
In the north-west of the building, the area allocated for children’s books has been replaced with a lecture room. The children books’ section has been combined with storytelling events section and given a spacious spot in the north-east corner of the plan. Also, the same space has been provided with some sofas for seating. In a similar way, the adult non-fiction books’ section in the west of the plan has been done with and now it serves the purpose of adult fiction books along with information desk and self-serving kiosks. The space for enquiry desk in the south-west and reading room in the south-east have been allotted to café and computer room respectively. The central portion of the floor which housed tables and chairs has been made totally vacant. Finally, all the reference books have been placed in the west part of the plan, which was earlier used for adult fiction books.
Overall, the number of portions in floor plan of public library have remained almost same but he placement of different sections have changed significantly.
