The diagram below shows how geothermal energy is used to produce electricity.
Sample Answer:(geothermal energy is used to produce electricity)
The picture illustrates the different stages involved in production of electricity from geothermal energy.
Overall, the whole process is divided into five stages. It starts from pumping the cold water under earth’s surface and ends at transmission of current after passing through the turbines.
Firstly, the cold water is channelized to the injection well which is 4.5 kilometers long and continues below the earth’s surface. Just beneath the injection well, there is a geothermal zone which is basically a layer comprising of hot rocks. After that once the cold water is pumped out of the injection well, it gets turned into hot water by flowing over the hot rocks.
In the next stage, the hot water is stored in the production well and later on sent out to the condenser on the ground level which converts the water into steam. In the following stage, the turbine is rotated with the high pressure of steam and electricity is generated after passing through a generator. Finally, the current is distributed through a power plant.
