Answer:

The line graph displays the amount of goods shipped in the UK from 1974 to 2002 by four means of transportation.

Overall, road was the most popular mode of transportation in all the years whereas pipeline was used the least.

Road was the primary mode of transport, starting at 70 million tonnes in 1974, and despite some fluctuations it increased steadily to reach about 100 million tonnes in 2002. Likewise, goods transported by water started at 40 millions tonnes in 1974 and then plateaued for a decade before climbing to 63 million units in 2002.

Amount of goods shipped by pipeline were only 5 million tonnes in 1974, however it rose gradually to reach 18 million tonnes in 1990 and then remained stable at 22 million tonnes from 1994 to 2002. On the contrary, rail shipments saw a steep decline in 1982 at 30 million tonnes from 40 million tonnes in 1974, and after dropping again in1995 it climbed back to its original value at 40 million tonnes in 2002.
