IELTS 7 bands vocabulary

This collection of IELTS 7 bands vocabulary consists of 21 words, which  will surely help students in getting 7 or more bands in writing and speaking modules of IELTS.

  • Foster (ਪਾਲਣ ਪੋਸ਼ਣ)

(verb) 

Meaning: Encourage or promote
Example: The physical presence of a teacher can foster better learning. 

 

  • Cater

(Verb) 

Meaning: provide with what is needed or required.
Example: Reduced fares of public transportation can cater to the needs of underprivileged commuters. 

 

  • Pertaining (ਸਬੰਧਤ)

(verb) 

Meaning: Related
Example: The events pertaining to the ancient times can teach lessons in the current times. 

 

  • Plethora (ਭਰਪੂਰ)

(noun) 

Meaning: A large or excessive amount
Example: There are a plethora of merits of using audio-visual aids in teaching. 

 

  • Multifarious (ਬਹੁਪੱਖੀ)

(adjective) 

Meaning: having many varied parts or aspects. 
Example: The benefits of imparting mixed-gender education is multifarious. 

 

  • Array (ਕਤਾਰ)

(noun) 

Meaning: a list or a range of a particular type of thing.
Example: There is an array of positive impacts of the physical presence of a teacher in a traditional classroom. 

 

  • Catalyze (ਉਤਪ੍ਰੇਰਕ)

(verb) 

Meaning: cause (an action or process) to begin.
Example: International sporting events can catalyze cross-border friendships leading to global peace. 

 

  • Relevant (ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ)

(adjective) 

Meaning: closely connected or appropriate
Example: Smartphones facilitate group interaction of multiple individuals through relevant mobile features. 

 

  • Breakthrough

(noun) 

Meaning: a sudden, dramatic, and important discovery or development.
Example: The invention of smartphones is a significant breakthrough in the field of communication. 

 

  • Ameliorate (ਸੁਧਾਰ)

(verb) 

Meaning: to make something or some situation better.
Example: Public awareness can ameliorate the grave concern of overpopulation. 

 

  • Alleviate (ਘਟਾਓ)

(verb) 

Meaning: to make (something, such as pain or suffering) less severe.
Example: Increasing fuel prices may not be an appropriate solution to alleviate traffic congestion on roads. 

 

  • Snowball (ਬਹੁਤ ਤੇਜ਼ ਵਾਧਾ)

(verb) 

Meaning: increase rapidly in size, intensity, or importance.
Example: The infection snowballed and affected the whole world within a period of six months. 

 

  • Deprive (ਵਾਂਝਾ ਕਰੋ)

(verb) 

Meaning: deny the possession or use of something.
Example: Uneven distribution of food deprives many individuals of their basic rights. 

 

  • Antique (ਪੁਰਾਣੀ)

(noun) 

Meaning: a collectible object such as a piece of furniture or work of art that has a high value because of its considerable age.
Example: Museums are full of antique art pieces. 

 

  • Victorian Era (ਪ੍ਰਾਚੀਨ ਸਮਾਂ)

(noun) 

Meaning: The period of British history when Queen Victoria ruled; it includes the entire second half of the nineteenth century.
Example: The antique objects of the Victorian era are highly valued. 

 

  • Delinquent (ਅਪਰਾਧੀ)

(adjective) 

Meaning: (typically of a young person or that person’s behavior) showing or characterized by a tendency to commit crime, particularly minor crime.
Example: Juvenile delinquency is on continuous rise in the recent years. 

 

  • Endure (ਸਹਿਣਾ)

(verb) 

Meaning: suffer patiently
Example: Many historical buildings have now become fragile after enduring for centuries. 

 

  • Prevalent (ਪ੍ਰਚਲਿਤ)

(adjective) 

Meaning: widespread in a particular area or at a particular time.
Example: Using mobile phone for long time is a prevalent practice these days.

  • Altruism (ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰ)

(noun) 

Meaning: the belief in selfless concern for the well-being of others.
Example: Some people engage in community work out of altruism.
