The graph below shows the number of shop closures and openings in one country between 2011 and 2018.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Answer  1:

The information illustrated in the graphical representation gives insights in to count of shops which were set up and others those were shut down in one specific nation during the period ranging from 2011 to 2018. The figures are mentioned in thousands.

At the beginning of the period , the numbers being opened showed a drastic decline from 9000 to 4000 in period of 1 year. Later on, there was a trend reversal and within next two years the figures reached 6000. Later in the years, from 2015 to 2018 the parameter remained stable in the range of 3000 to 4000.

On the other hand, the number of shops winding up their businesses remained quite stable from 2011 to 2014 and varied slightly from around 6000 to 7000. But, in 2015 it plummeted to below 1000, before again increasing to 5000 in 2016. After that, there was not any significant movement and it remained in the vicinity of 5000.

Overall, the most striking feature of the pattern is that the the numbers remained quite similar during the beginning and end of the period for both parameters , irrespective of the movements during the period.

Answer 2:

The line graph illustrates the trend of opening and shutting down of shops in a country over a span of eight years.
It is noticeable at a glance that opening of new shops as well as closure both shows significant fluctuations. In the year 2011, 8500 new shops opened whereas the number tumbled down to 3000 in 2018. Moreover, in the year 2012 there was sharp increase in opening of new shops. This trend continued till 2014, thereafter a decline was observed in 2015 and the numbers remained steady for three consecutive years that is 4000 shops per year. However, in 2017 a downfall came, as a result only 3000 shops open in 2018.
Additionally, it is evident from the line graph that shop closures gradually increased and decreased till the year 2014. However, in the year 2014 there was a remarkable decline. Only around 500 shops closed in the year 2015. On the other hand significant closures occured in 2016 and they stayed table till 2018.
Overall, it can be seen that opening of new shops and closures show different rates of shooting and following over eight years
