Dear Amy,
I hope you are doing well. I am so glad to know that you will be doing your masters from the same university I graduated. I am writing this letter to give you some advice about finding a suitable place to live near the campus.
When I was a student, I used to live in West Broadway which is about 15 minutes far from the main campus. It was a two bedroom apartment that I shared with a fellow classmate. I think this was a great area to live because of its connectivity to the university and downtown. Also, the bust stop was right in front of my apartment.
I would suggest you to search a decent accommodation on websites such as Craigslist or Facebook Market place. You can filter the search by putting in the area and how many rooms you would like to live in. Apart from this, make sure to have a look at the college bulletin board, it has a lot of advertisements about vacant apartments.
Having said that, I would ask you to be careful some choices. Firstly, do not share the accommodation with more than one person as it would cause a lot of distraction in your studies. Secondly, many a times students find a place distant to the college to save their rent, however this is bad choice which they regret later as a lot of time is wasted on the commute.
I hope you will find my advice useful.
Yours lovingly,
Preet Sohi
