Some students travel abroad for one year before starting University.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of this?

Nowadays, some students prefer to visit the foreign country before enter into higher studies for at least a year. This would give plenty of benefits to the students as it enables them to learn independently and also increases their exposure level. However, there are also drawbacks to be taken into account.

Firstly, one benefit to explore the foreign nation before entering into the University makes the person more mature and an independent. In other words, when the individuals would live alone without their family, they tend to learn the ability to communicate with each other or how to deal with confrontations and conflicts in a constructive way. Secondly, students might able to know how to negotiate with other people. Due to this, it increases their exposure level and also changes the way of thinking which , consequently, produces better academic performance when they would get admission in the university.

On the other hand, one problem of going alone to other country is that students are might involved in the wrong path. For instance, when they would live alone and have no one to look after, then it tends to student indulge themselves in vulgar activities such as drinking alcohol or taking drugs. Another possible demerit of living outside the home country is the home sickness. Some people are very attached to their home that they feel off-kilter when it is tweaked. This might leads to depress their mind which is harmful for the health of an individual.

In conclusion, while students get benefits of traveling to foreign country before starting their higher education, it might also creates adverse impacts on their health in terms of physically and mentally.
