Youβve been accepted into a nursing program at KPU, or youβre starting a new job at a daycare in Delta. The requirements say you need "CPR." But which one?
At RupIELTS Institute, we see students sign up for the wrong level all the time. If you take Level A when you need Level C, your employer will reject your certificate, and you will have to pay to retake the class. Letβs get it right the first time.
The 3 Main Levels Explained
π€
CPR Level A
For: General Public & Workplaces
Adults Only.
This covers CPR and AED use for adult victims. It is the bare minimum for most workplace compliance.

CPR Level C
For: Police, Fire, Lifeguards, Parents
Adults, Children & Infants.
The most popular course. It covers everyone from babies to seniors. Required for most first responders and childcare workers.
βοΈ
Basic Life Support (HCP)
For: Nurses, Doctors, Paramedics
Healthcare Professionals.
Formerly called "HCP." This is high-performance CPR involving pulse checks, Bag-Valve-Masks (BVM), and team response.
Which One Do YOU Need?
Choose Level C if:
- You are a security guard (BST).
- You work with children (ECE, Teacher).
- You want to know how to save a family member.
Choose BLS (HCP) if:
- You are a Nursing or Care Aide student.
- You work in a hospital or dental office.
- You are a firefighter.
π‘ Important Update for 2025
The term "CPR HCP" is being phased out in favor of "Basic Life Support (BLS)." If your school forms ask for HCP, book our BLS course. It is the exact same standard, just a new name.
Get Certified This Week
We run CPR Level C and BLS courses every weekend at our Scott Road campus.
