Signing up for a course is easy. Walking into the classroom can be nerve-wracking. At RupIELTS and First Aid Training Institute, we meet students every week who are worried. They ask us: "Am I fit enough?" "Will I faint?" "What if I fail?"
Let's demystify the experience so you can walk into our Surrey campus on 120th Street with confidence.
π° Fear #1: "I Can't Stand Blood"
The Reality: Good newsβyou won't see any real blood. We use plastic mannequins and clean bandages. While we talk about wounds, the training is clean and clinical. You don't need a "strong stomach" to pass OFA Level 1.
ποΈ Fear #2: "I'm Not Fit Enough"
The Reality: First aid does require some physical effort, but you don't need to be an athlete. You will need to:
- Kneel on the floor (we provide foam mats for your knees!).
- Perform chest compressions (CPR) for a few minutes.
Note: If you have a back injury or disability, let our instructors know privately before class starts. We can often accommodate you for learning, though certification standards are strict.
π Fear #3: "The Exam is Hard"
The Reality: For OFA Level 1, the "exam" is mostly continuous assessment. If you listen, participate, and try your best, you will likely pass. Our instructors want you to succeed. We will repeat demonstrations until you get it right.
The "Day of Class" Checklist
To have the best experience, follow these simple tips:
- π Wear Comfy Clothes: You will be moving around. Wear track pants or leggings. Avoid skirts or tight jeans.
- π Wear Flat Shoes: Running shoes are perfect. No heels or flip-flops.
- πββοΈ Tie Hair Back: Long hair gets in the way of CPR practice.
- π₯ͺ Bring Lunch: We have breaks, and there are restaurants near our Scott Road location, but bringing snacks keeps your energy up.
